Scriptures on My Identity in Christ

Scriptures on My Identity in Christ

print

When you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you were born again. Not your physical body, of course, but your Spirit (the real you). By the power of the Holy Spirit, your Spirit became new; made holy, sanctified, and righteous. The Bible says old things are passed away and that ALL things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17) . That is a lot of fancy words, but what does that really mean?

You have a new identity in Christ.

Take some time and become familiar with your new identity. Be empowered by what God’s Word says about the new you. Let go of the old you bound by sin, and embrace the new. Even if you have been saved for years, you can get a fresh revelation of who you are in Christ.

Read and meditate on the scriptures below. Begin to see yourself as you really are and as God sees you!

Deuteronomy 28:13 NASB
“The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath..”

Matthew 5:14 NLT
“You are the light of the world–like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”

Mark 16:17-18 NLT
These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

Luke 10:17-19 NLT
When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

Romans 5:17 NLT
For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:11 NIV
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:17 NLT
And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.

Romans 8:33-34 NLT
Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one–for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one–for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

Romans 8:37 NLT
…overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

1 Corinthians 2:16 ESV

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Colossians 2:9-11 NLT
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision–the cutting away of your sinful nature.

2 Peter 1:2-4 NLT
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know (Jesus), the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
