Praise! Praising God through the Psalms
Praise is an important part of the Christian life. Psalm 34:1 NLT says “I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.” The Bible also speaks of the importance of pairing praise (“thanksgiving”) with prayer. Philippians 4:6 says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. The Psalms are full of prayers and praises to God. This is a large collection of praises straight from the Psalms, but don’t be overwhelmed. Take one set of scriptures at a time. Read it out loud a few times. Roll it around in your mind and let it sink into your spirit. Incorporate these into your daily life and prayers today. God is good and worthy of our praise!
“I will thank you Lord with all my heart. I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name O most high.” (Psalm 9:1-2)

Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness, they will sing with joy of your righteousness.” (Psalm 145: 1-7)
“The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. All of your works will thank you Lord, and your faithful followers will bless you…The Lord is faithful in all he says, he is gracious in all he does… The Lord is righteous in everything he does, and he is filled with kindness… I will praise the Lord, and everyone on Earth will bless his holy name forever and ever!” (Psalm 145:8-10,13,17, 21)
“Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies! Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven! Praise him, Sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars! Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds! Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being. He established them forever and forever. His orders will never be revoked. Praise him all the Earth and everything in it. Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great, his glory towers over the Earth and heaven!” (Psalm 149:1-6, 13)
“Praise God in his heavenly dwelling, praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works, praise his unequaled greatness! Praise him with a blast of the trumpet, praise him with a lyre and harp! Praise him with a tambourine and dancing, praise him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals, praise him with a loud clanging cymbal. Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord” (Psalm 150)
